John Crone

I moved to the U.S. in 1975 from Denmark. I then attended The University of California at Berkeley and double-majored in Linguistics and English. During my college years I took a job in a hotel restaurant in San Francisco. The hotel was The Royal Stanford Court Hotel; the restaurant, Fournou’s Ovens.

Little did I realize at the time, that I was working for a hotel that was already known and respected throughout the world, not only for its accommodations (five star), but also for its commitment to fine dining. The hotel was the first hotel in the
U.S. to take hotel dining to the ultimate level, and subsequently, it became the flagship hotel studied at the top hospitality-industry universities such as Cornell and Harvard. The hotel and dining room were frequented by hundreds of celebrities and chefs from all over the world. It was the place to be seen in San Francisco for a number of years. I was smitten by fine dining and decided to make it my career. I moved through the ranks, from Captain to Wine-Steward to Manager at various fine-dining establishments in the U.S.

During the late eighties, I started working in the mortgage industry on a part-time basis. I have since made it my full-time occupation and now work for New Horizon Mortgage, a brokerage with access to hundreds of different lenders and loan products designed to fill just about any niche. Experienced in providing world-class service, and comfortable with people from all walks of life, I wish to take service and education to a higher level in the lending industry.

Parker, CPA*

The vast majority of my work experience has been in the financial arena--banks, an international CPA firm and 11 years with a company that financed fast food franchises (say that 3 times fast). Seven of those 11 years were spent as VP of the  Customer Service Department.

What I have come to realize is that mortgage brokering is the perfect combination for me: I get to provide my clients with the highest level of customer service (in this business it is all about the individual, as each individual broker determines what the client will pay and how they will be treated), while dealing with the largest personal financial transactions of their lives.  For someone who enjoys numbers and people, it doesn't get any better than this!

In addition, I have come to realize, as discussed in our Preferred Provider section, that I am also very fortunate to know a large number of very good people. So, I have set out to build my business by offering a high level of quality service to those people and other good people they know. In an industry known for "horror-story" service (one CPA referred me a client that had been gouged for over $20,000 in fees on their prior mortgage loan), I know that I can treat people fairly, work hard, and still make a decent living. It doesn't get much better than that.

So, if you want the peace of mind that comes with working with someone who just thinks its good business to take care of people, and couldn't sleep at night if he did otherwise, then I look forward to working with you, your family, friends and business associates. (And, the reason I work with John is because he thinks the same way!)
